Forest
• Generally at night and set in a forest, away from crowded places.
• Very quiet with only noise of the forest, victim and the murderer(s), normally running.
• Often hear the crunching of leaves underfoot and the wind in the trees.
• Occasionally hear an animal noise, usually a howl or an owl hooting.
Haunted House
• Often looks very creepy and normally looks deserted.
• Haunted by ghosts, poltergeists and/or demons.
• Often perceived as being inhabited by disembodied spirits of the dead who are former residents or people who were familiar with the premises.
• Supernatural activity often takes place inside and is said to be associated with violent or tragic events in the building’s past such as murder, accidental death or suicide.
• There is usually a house keeper or butler inhabiting the house who is normally perceived as being neither alive nor dead.
Spooky Graveyard
• Often dark with mist or fog, barely able to see the headstones.
• Often a large tomb with a well known person in, either wealthy, famous or a notorious villain of some sort.
• Normally used when zombies or vampires are used within the film.
• Generally night time when seen.
• People will almost always use it as a cut through or will be chased into it.
• Sometimes there are corpses or hands reaching out from the grave.
• From time to time there are grave diggers or grave robbers.
Dungeon
• Normally dark only lit by dim lights, torches or not at all.
• Often under remote buildings or derelict castles of some sort.
• Sometimes has blood on the floor, and bones of previous victims.
• Generally have rats or mice running around the dungeon.
• Sometimes associated with Frankenstein films as the birth place of the creature.
Domestic House
• Gives a sense of normality.
• Has an air of safety.
• Do not expect anything to happen in your own home.
• Always think that something that would happen would happen somewhere else.

Further to our discussion today, all of you must take indinvidual responsibility for creating some blog commentaries. In particular, a survey of some opening sequence horror movies (with a focus on spoof film openings especially) and referencing the key categories that we spoke of.
